Sunday Games Gathering

We’ll be having a Sunday Games Gathering this coming Sunday so we welcome you to come join us! It’s free for Mensans and their family members.

Date: 30 Oct (Sun)
Time: 3.30pm
Venue: Mensa Office, Caring Society Complex, Jalan Utama, Penang.

Refreshments will be provided.
Bring your own mug if you wish (we don’t want to use polystyrene cups)

Monopoly Board Game

Feel free to bring your own board games to share with us too! By the way, parking is freely available.

We had 84 participants forming 42 teams for yesterday’s Puzzlers’ Challenge 2011 held at Caring Society Complex from 2pm to 7pm. They were secondary school students from schools around Penang.

The Puzzler’s Challenge 2011

The Puzzler’s Challenge 2011 is a challenge to test minds with a series of puzzles that has to be solved within stipulated times.

Organized by the Malaysian Mensa Society-Penang Branch and endorsed by the Penang State Education Department, the challenge seeks to expose the public, especially students, about Mensa organisation and its activities.

Cashflow Board Game – 9 January

We will be organizing a special session this Sunday for board game lovers, especially if you’d like to enhance your financial literacy.

Come learn the concept behind Robert Kiyosaki’s bestselling books. This board game called Cashflow is very rarely played in open circles as the board game itself is expensive.

As this is an introductory game session, we are only opening it to 6 persons (open to Mensa members and family members).

We have 2 game facilitators who will explain the game and how it is played. Be warned: it is quite addictive!

What Patients Can Do to Make Their Health Care Safer & Better

Despite major advances in health care over the past century and highly trained and dedicated staff with the best intentions, patients continue to experience “adverse events”. An adverse event is any unintended harm to a patient as a result of medical care. Examples include: infection because a health care provider failed to wash their hands properly, prolonged hospital admission due to a medication error, and surgery on the wrong patient. Research conducted in North America, Britain, Europe, Australia and New Zealand indicate that adverse events occur at an alarming rate – between 3 and 17 out of every 100 hospital admissions (3 – 17 %) are associated with an adverse event.

US Scholarship Talk

If you want to know how to get a scholarship to study in the USA, or want to know what the criteria and requirements are for US Ivy League universities, then you must not miss the US Applications Workshop organised by Mensa member, Mr Yeoh Chen Chow.  Mensa Penang organised a talk with Chen Chow a few years ago and it was so well-received! The room was standing space only when we organised the talk in 2006 and 2007.

He’s back again and he will be in Penang.

He and his team will be in Penang to share with you all the things you need to know before you apply for any US university.

Don’t miss this! It’s on 26th June, 2pm-6pm at Penang’s INTI International College. And it’s FREE!

Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2010

Mensa Penang Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Time: 12pm to 5pm

Venue: Berjaya Georgetown Hotel, Penang

Lunch will be held at 12 noon at the hotel cafe. This will be followed by a short games and puzzle session as an icebreaker. The AGM will start at 3pm.

We welcome you and your family and friends to join us.
