Malaysian Mensa Society, Penang Branch is organizing a Creativity Seminar/Workshop for Mensa and MINDS members and guests.
You will have the opportunity to explore exciting new ideas in the world of creativity. Everyone, from the earliest caveman to the rocket scientists of today, needs to develop a more creative mind, both for their own benefit and the betterment of mankind. With various points of view from three speakers, you will have the opportunity to see different perspectives of creativity development from contemporary theory and hands-on workshops to Energy Psychology and the Tao of Creativity. This program consists of talks and fun workshop activities. It will be a weekend of fun and games for all.

Bowling Time With Family and Friends

One Sunday at 10.30 in the morning of 22nd February 2009, a group of Mensans together with family members converged at BJ Bowl in Bukit Jambul Complex to do their annual practice.
This time, we had 10 persons joining the bowling games. Our immediate past Chairman, PC Sim, came alone as his son could not make it. BL Yeoh, the organizer, brought his family of five. WL Cheok came with Elaine and their little son, Aidan, while Nic Sim came strolling in with Krista.
As many of us had not touched a bowling ball since the last bowling event held on 16th June 2007, we were a bit rusty with our techniques of rolling the ball towards the pins. Maybe Cheok might disagree with me as his score for the three games played was very consistent – 124,123 and 126. I was the total opposite of him as I was not very comfortable with the ball chosen nor my technique until much later into the games. This explains my score of 54 for the first game and 124 for the third game.
The bowling alley cleaners would probably be the happiest people around for that morning. Many ladies had ended up “cleaning the drains” when the balls rolled to the sides instead of hitting the pins.
After two hours of fun aiming to hit the targeted pins (but often in vain), it was time for the results. Guess what? Cheok and Elaine emerged as champions, BL and I were runners-up while Nic and Krista were third place in the men’s and ladies’ categories respectively. It was such a coincidence for couples to share the same position though in a different category!

Speaker’s Profile
Master Yap Soon-Yeong practised many styles of qigong and meditation for over 30 years and is the founder of Chaoyi Fanhuan Qigong (CFQ). He is a professional Alternative/Complementary Medicine provider using Bio-Energy or Qi Energy for the past 15 years. Formally a Certified Public Accountant, he was drawn to his true calling to become a professional healer. He has since established a worldwide reputation in this field, with countless CFQ practitioners spread over countries in North America, Europe and Asia. A number of medical doctors, psychologists and alternative medicine providers have since adopted CFQ as a treatment approach. His recent profile include:
· The only invited Asian Speaker during the First Pacific Rim Energy Psychology Conference held in Singapore in March 2004, sharing CFQ treatment modality and demonstrated his healing power.

Prior to that she has more than 10 years experience in public accounting firms and multinational companies. She has also been assigned as one of the panel authors in the Budget Commentary and Ready Reckoner. Her main interest is in the areas of taxation, wealth accumulation, insurance planning, retirement planning and wealth distribution. PENANG MENSA INVITATIONAL SCRABBLE TOURNAMENT 2001

The Penang Mensa Invitational Scrabble Tournament 2001 was more like a family picnic than a serious high-brow scrabble competition. All the participants were busy cracking jokes and stuffing themselves with delicious cakes and cream puffs even as they struggled to conjure up words to score maximum points. Everyone had a lot of fun and things went off smoothly.
However, the competition was intense and there were many loud moans, groans and curses over missed chances and unfavourable tiles. After the dust or rather the cakes had settled the winner emerged.

We are all looking forward to next years competition. You can bet we will all study and practice hard till then!
